November 2006 Steve was awarded the Humane Society of the United States PETS FOR LIFE AWARD at the annual Cat Writers' Association Awards Banquet for the best single work of the year published in the mass media, highlighting keeping cats in their homes for life on WGN Radio's Pet Central. Steve's WGN show won a Muse Medallion for Best Radio Presentation. Steve's colleague and friend Kim Campbell Thorton earns the Winn Feline Foundation 2006 Media Award!
